The Sumeria card is a Visa Debit card and is accepted worldwide by merchants and ATMs, whatever the currency.

It is a systematic authorization card. This means that it automatically debits the account at the moment of the transaction by creating an authorization debit. This authorization will be validated by the merchant to definitely debit the account.

No payment can be made if the amount available on the account is not sufficient. No overdraft is authorized.

The first Sumeria card is free for all customers.

Each additional card ordered and delivered will cost €5 for basic cards, €7 for standard cards, and €9 for black cards. Learn more.

The cards also have a virtual and a single-use version, to protect customers during their online transactions. Learn more. Virtual and physical cards are subject to the same operating rules, limits, and security measures.

Cards benefits

Sumeria cards are:

  • Connected : customers can activate or block it at any time from the mobile app, or by logging in from a computer. From the mobile app, they can also unblock it, control their spending limits, turn on or off "contactless" payments, online payments, ATM withdrawals and transactions abroad.
  • Multi-account : customers can change the account debited with their card at any time from the account details.
  • Functional for trips abroad : no fees are incurred for customers using their card abroad, within applicable limits.
  • Customizable for all customers : customers get to choose what is written on the front of the card (available on the second card order).
    Certain conditions may give rise to specific fees (currency conversion, withdrawals outside the euro area, etc.). These conditions are set out in the Fees and Limits Appendix.

Before ordering a card

Here is what customers need to know:

  • The card works with the Sumeria application. It is funded with the money available in one of the customer's accounts. The application is available for free on iPhone and Android.
  • To start using the card, customers must open an account.
    The issuance and use of a card are reserved for customers who have verified their identity in the Sumeria application.

Card settings

The customer accesses the list of their cards via the “Me” tab in the menu. They can view the settings by clicking on a card in the list. Learn more. 

In the event of a purchase made with a card (physical, contactless or virtual) and if the customer's balance is not sufficient, the payment will be declined.

The customer can fund his account by wire transfers, external card or Apple Pay. To know more about funding an account. 

A unique card

Customers can take advantage of this option to get a truly unique card, if they want to, and differentiate it from their other cards. Personalization has no impact on the card’s technical characteristics or security.

Requirements to get the card

The issuance of a Sumeria card is available to all adult customers who have verified their identity and reside in a country where Sumeria is available, with no income requirement or specific banking status. It remains subject to the identity and compliance checks required by law.
