The basic card

The basic card is free for all customers.

Each additional card ordered and delivered costs €5 for a basic card. 

Customers can also create virtual single-use cards for free, to protect them during their online shopping.

Card benefits

The card is:

  • Connected: customers can activate or block it at any time from the application. They can also control their spending limits, turn on or off "contactless" payments, online payments, ATM withdrawals and transactions abroad.
  • Multi-account: customers can change the account debited with their card at any time from the account detail.
  • Perfect for trips abroad: no fees are incurred for customers using their card abroad, within applicable limits.

The card works with the Sumeria application (available for free on Android and iPhone). It is funded with the money available on one of the customer's accounts.

Types of transactions

The card can be used to pay in-store anywhere in France and abroad and to make ATM withdrawals worldwide (except countries blacklisted by OFAC).

To protect customers, the "Online payments" feature is deactivated by default. To safely shop online, we recommend customers use single-use virtual cards.

If the account's balance is not sufficient to make a transaction, it won't go through. Customers will then have to fund their account to make the transaction. 

A customizable card 

Customers can customize their card by choosing two lines of text which will appear on the back. The customer's first and last names will always appear on the back of the card, alongside the numbers. More information on the customization policy here.

Requirements to get the card

Customers must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • reside in a country where Sumeria is available
  • have verified their identity

Sumeria does not take into account the customer's profession, income, banking status or monthly payments on the account.

The standard card

The standard card is the ideal card for customers who use Sumeria for their daily banking transactions.

This card extends the payment and ATM withdrawal limits, it's price is very reasonable and it can be called anytime. On top of the basic card benefits, the standard card also gives access to preferential customer service.

Standard card exclusive benefits

For €3.90 a month customers enjoy: 

  • A Visa Debit card: customizable, to pay anywhere with no fees incurred, be it in France or abroad
  • Comfortable payment and withdrawal limits: spending limits up to €6,000 a month, option to have 3 valid physical cards, and 6 ATM withdrawals per month
  • Sumeria customer service: via telephone appointments
Price and commitment

Customers getting the standard card can cancel their subscription after 3 months. Customers can choose to pay: 

  • annually for €39 (that's 2 months for free compared to monthly payment)
  • monthly for €3.90 a month

The offer is automatically renewed until the customer terminates the subscription. The offer can be terminated from the "Summeria offer" screen in-app. 

Each additional card ordered and delivered costs €7 for a standard card. 

The black card

With the black card, customers can enjoy the benefits of the basic card as well as a simple and instant payment solution for all their current expenses with extended limits: extensive spending limits, insurances, a concierge service and a preferential customer service.

Black card exclusive benefits

For €9.90 a month customers benefit from: 

  • A black Visa Debit black card: customizable, to pay anywhere with no fees incurred, be it in France or abroad
  • Extended limits: spending limits up to €25,000 a month, option to have 3 valid physical cards, higher amount of ATM withdrawals
  • Insurance: travel, winter sports, coverage for means of payment and online purchases for the customers and their loved ones 
  • A concierge service: via text message or WhatsApp to answer customer requests
  • Sumeria customer service: via telephone appointments
Price and cancellation policy

Customers getting the black card can cancel their subscription after 12 months. Customers can choose to pay: 

  • annually for €99 (that's 2 months for free compared to monthly payment) 
  • monthly for €9.90 a month

The offer is automatically renewed until the customer terminates the subscription. The offer can be terminated from the "Summeria offer" screen in-app.

The Sumeria+ offer

Sumeria+ is Sumeria's paying offer dedicated to assisted savings. It offers a programme that aims to help customers develop good savings habits. Several savings and financial management tools are available to customers, such as the option to round up payments to the nearest euro, expenses categorization, etc. Assistance via a support dedicated to this offer is also included. 

The Sumeria+ offer is available for €4.90 a month for a minimum of 6 months. (see price details here).

A programme based on the creation of a major project

This assisted savings programme is based on the creation, preparation, and tracking of a major project. The purpose of this major project is to help customers identify a project that will motivate them to adopt new savings habits. It can have a medium or long-term focus (plan for the future, long travel, important purchase...). This major project materializes with an account in-app.

Start of month transfer

From their Sumeria+ Centre, customers can enable the start of month transfer. They define an amount and a date to which they will be reminded to confirm their transfer.

Rounding up to the nearest euro

Rounding up to the nearest euro allows customers to automatically save the remaining cents between the price they paid and the nearest euro. For instance, when paying €2.35, €0.56 will automatically be saved up. Rounding up to the nearest euro applies to all transactions made by card, whether physical, digital or virtual.

Customers can freely enable or disable rounding up to the nearest euro for expenses made with shared accounts.  If enabled, the expense amount will be debited from the shared account while the rounded up complement will be debited from the payer's personal account.
Project accounts

In addition to the major project defined when setting up Sumeria+, customers can create other project accounts for which they want to save money. Each project account can be used to save money ahead of a planned expense (Christmas gift, summer holidays...). Customers can create as many accounts as they have projects for which they want to save money. 

Assisted savings game

The assisted savings game is perfect to save up in a simple and fun way. If customers enable this feature from their Sumeria+ Centre (in the mobile app), they will receive a notification each week inviting them to take up the challenge.

Saving up earned interest

With Sumeria+, customers can choose to have their current account interest sent right to their cash reserve. This can be enabled in the Sumeria+ Centre.

Activating this tool is recommended to save up efficiently.

How the programme works on a daily basis

During the month, the money saved thanks to the Sumeria+ tools is credited, by default, on the cash reserve. At the end of the month, customers are offered to allocate part of the money on the cash reserve to their major project (and to their other project account if they have any). The money remaining in the cash reserve can be used to cover for unexpected expenses in their daily life. This is why customers are recommended to always keep part of the money they collected in their cash reserve, so they don't have to borrow from their major project if needed. 

The money saved up is sent to the cash reserve and earns you 2% interest, just like your other accounts.
Description of budgeting tools
Budgeting accounts

Customers can create budgeting accounts they can use to monitor the transactions for a specific expense type (Leisure, Shopping, Groceries...). Customers can create as many budgeting accounts as they have expense types. They can allocate a budget to each account and a gauge will allow them to track the evolution of their expenses during the month, and thus better manage their budget. 

Monitoring charts and expenses categorization

Monitoring charts allow customers to visualize their spending pace over time as well as the category linked to each transaction. Customers can configure them depending on the view they want to have:

  • by period (month, week)
  • by account (focus on one or several accounts)
  • by expense type (supermarket, restaurants, transportation...)

These charts allow customers to better manage their budget. 

Fixed expenses monitoring

Customers can enter fixed expenses (type, price, payment date) and access the list of their fixed expenses from their Sumeria+ Centre. A notification a few days before the debit, monthly and annual indicators as well as creating budgeting accounts dedicated to your expenses will help customers anticipate their direct debits. 

Alerts

To allow customers to closely monitor their expenses and budget, Sumeria set up personalized alerts for each account created by customers. Customers can be alerted when their balance is too low, when an expense is above a specific amount or for other scenarios.  

Price and cancellation policy 

Sumeria+ offer is available with two payment plans:

  • Monthly billing: customers are subscribed for a minimum of 6 months as of the subscription date, for €4.90 a month
  • Annual billing: customers annually pay the preferential price of €49 (that's two months for free)
Customers under 25 can enjoy a dedicated offer for €2 a month.

The offer is automatically renewed until the customer terminates the subscription. It can be done directly from the "Sumeria offer" screen in-app. 

The Sumeria+ programme is available for 12 months with the annual offer. In case of early termination, customers cannot be refunded for the months they will not be using.

Sumeria+ and the standard card

A preferential price is offered if customers get the standard card and the Sumeria+ offer. The monthly plan costs €6.90 and the annual plan costs €69. Can be cancelled after 6 months, regardless of the payment plan (monthly or annual).

Sumeria+ and the black card

A preferential price is offered if customers get the black card and the Sumeria+ offer. The monthly plan costs €12.90 and the annual plan costs €129. Customers subscribe for a minimum of 12 months, regardless of their payment plan.
