Contactless payment (subject to a compatible terminal)
It refers to a payment made without entering a payment card into a terminal and typing your PIN. Customers only have to press their card at the terminal to pay. More and more retailers accept this payment technique for amounts under €50.
NFC
NFC is short for "Near Field Communication", the technology behind contactless payments. The card has an NFC chip.
Limits
To reduce the fraud risk on contactless payments, some limits are applied.
- The number of consecutive contactless payment is limited to 5.
- The cumulative amount paid with contactless payments without using the PIN is limited to €200.
If one of these limits is reached, the customer will have to try again by inserting the card and using the PIN code. Then, both limits will be reset.
Disable contactless payments
To disable contactless payments, customers have to click on “Card options” from the Cards list, then drag the button located on the Contactless (NFC) line. The background of the button will turn white (inactive).
Enable contactless payments
To activate contactless payments, customers have to click or swipe the button located next to "Contactless (NFC)". The button turns green (enabled), meaning the card now has contactless payments enabled.
In the event of loss, theft, or fraudulent use, the customer may block their card directly from the app. If they are unable to access it, they must inform customer service without delay and request that their card be blocked or placed on stop by sending an email to contact@sumeria.eu or by contacting our Live Chat, available 24/7.
