Customers can pay by card without inserting it into the payment terminal or entering their PIN. Contactless payment is available for amounts under €50; above this threshold, entering the PIN is required.
To pay, simply hold the card against a compatible terminal (subject to terminal compatibility).
NFC
NFC is short for "Near Field Communication", the technology behind contactless payments. The card has an NFC chip.
Limits
To reduce the fraud risk on contactless payments, some limits are applied.
- The number of consecutive contactless payments is limited to 5.
- The cumulative amount paid with contactless payments without using the PIN is limited to €200.
If one of these limits is reached, the customer will have to try again by inserting the card and using the PIN code. Then, both limits will be reset.
Disable contactless payments
To disable contactless payments, customers have to click on “Card options” from the Cards list, then drag the button located on the Contactless (NFC) line. The background of the button will turn white (inactive).
Enable contactless payments
To activate contactless payments, customers have to click or swipe the button located next to "Contactless (NFC)". The button turns green (enabled), meaning the card now has contactless payments enabled.
