Lydia has chosen instant payment as its standard for bank transfers: whenever possible, Lydia receives your transfer via instant payment technology.

If instant reception is not possible, it will be done in the traditional way. In this case, the delay is 1 to 3 business days (depending on the bank and the country from which the transfer is issued).

Whether instant or classic, the transfer will be visible and credited to the customer's account as soon as Lydia has received it.

Why should I top up my Lydia account by instant transfer instead of by card?

The user has two ways to top up his Lydia account:

  • with their bank card (from their Lydia application)
  • with their bank account via the Lydia IBAN (from their banking application)

Both options require authentication of the user who made the transfer and are therefore fully secure, as well as being instantaneous if the sender of the transfer is eligible.

Unlike the card reload (see rates and limits), the transfer reload is unlimited. The user will never pay any fees from Lydia for this type of operation.

If the user initiates a bank transfer from a bank account aggregated in Lydia (Link my bank option), he will also have the choice to perform an instant or classic transfer. By default, an instant transfer will be performed if there are no fees imposed by the user's bank that issues the transfer.

Under what conditions can a transfer received from Lydia be instantaneous?

Transfers are generally subject to fees by the issuing bank. The user can thus choose to receive them instantly or in the traditional way.

In some cases or under certain conditions, bank transfers are necessarily received in the classic way (effective credit within 2 to 3 working days):

  • If the issuing bank is not compatible with instant payment technology. For more information, the user can consult the website of the bank concerned or contact the bank;
  • If the type of the receiving account is not compatible with instant payment technology. This can be the case for accounts that are not current accounts, such as our interest-bearing savings account for example;
  • If the interbank platform for processing instant payment flows, on which instant payment technology is based, is temporarily out of service or under maintenance;
  • If the profile of the Lydia user receiving the transfer needs to be analyzed for banking security reasons;
  • If the Lydia User does not wish to be charged a fee by his/her bank at the time of initiating the transfer.

How do I get confirmation that a transfer has been processed instantly?

If the user makes a transfer from his bank account aggregated to the Lydia app, a confirmation popup will confirm whether the transfer was completed instantly or not.

The user will also be notified through account money alerts:

  • If the user has opted to receive our transactional emails for the amount concerned, just refer to the confirmation email sent by Lydia. The user will receive a confirmation email as soon as the money is credited to their Lydia account and thus know whether the transfer is instant or standard;
  • If the user has chosen to enable Lydia push notifications, Lydia will send a push notification in addition to the transfer confirmation email.
