In the absence of a dedicated IBAN, the customer can generate an “IBAN for receiving payments” for each of their sub-accounts. This IBAN is nominative, dedicated to receiving transfers, and designed to facilitate their banking operations.
The client can also choose to generate a « IBAN pour payer », a standard IBAN in their name, declared to FICOBA, which can be used to receive and send transfers as well as to set up direct debits, learn more.
IBAN for receiving payments
The customer can use this IBAN to:
- receive transfers;
- share bank details securely, without any risk of direct debit from their account;
- make outgoing transfers in their name from sub-accounts without a dedicated IBAN.
The customer can generate an “IBAN for receiving payments” from the screen of the relevant account in the application.
Direct debits
Direct debits are not allowed on this type of IBAN. If an organisation (electricity, phone, subscription, etc.) attempts to set up a direct debit on this IBAN, it will be automatically rejected.
The customer must use their main IBAN or generate a dedicated IBAN for the relevant sub-account in order to set up direct debits.
Outgoing transfers
When a customer makes a transfer from a sub-account without a dedicated IBAN, the IBAN for receiving payments is automatically used.
Thus, transfers made from a sub-account without a dedicated IBAN will appear to recipients in the customer’s name, even if the sub-account does not have a dedicated IBAN.
This helps reduce certain transfer rejections that may occur with third-party institutions (investment platforms or crypto platforms, etc.).
Activating a dedicated IBAN
If the customer later activates a dedicated IBAN on a sub-account already using an “IBAN for receiving payments”, the same IBAN is retained and becomes a standard dedicated IBAN.
In this case, direct debits will be allowed on this account.
