Customers can benefit from discounts granted automatically. Also known as ‘cashback’, these are refunds of part price of their purchases, paid by card, which are eligible for an offer from partner retailers.

The customer has nothing special to do, and nothing to provide. Sumeria shares certain transaction information to a partner to enable it to find matches with current offers. This may take a few days. If the conditions are met, the customer's account is automatically credited with the amount of the cashback.

Main conditions

  • Have not refused to share the necessary data with the partner;
  • Have already made at least 50 payments with Sumeria cards;
  • Have paid with a Sumeria card (whatever the version, physical, virtual, contactless, etc.)
  • Meet the terms and conditions of the partner retailers' offers.
To consult the cashback deals, customers can go to the "Cashback" screen, accessible from the "Menu" (at the bottom of the home screen).

Personal data

Sumeria never shares customers’ names or emails. The partner generates a pseudonymized ID unique to each customer. This “token” prevents anyone from identifying the real person behind the information.

Information shared with the partner is used to:

  • Provide customers with attractive and customized deals (based on customer data and purchasing preferences)
  • Identify transactions eligible for cashback and check they are in line with the conditions of the offer.

Cashback amount

Cashback equals to a certain percentage of the total purchase made. Said percentage can change over time and differs between partners. It can also be different if it’s the first one to be made at that retailer. This explains why 2 customers can be rewarded different cashback sums, although they made their purchases at the same retailer.

Example: 30% cashback for first purchase, 4% for subsequent purchases.

Retailers

​The list of retailers offering cashback is available in the application. This list changes regularly. It is based on the customer's shopping habits.

These are often major companies such as Carrefour, Franprix, Subway etc.

Retail chains offer cashback to attract new customers or to build loyalty.

Cashback validation and payment

Customers must wait a few days (from a week to a month) between their purchase and receipt of their cashback. This is the time needed to check the conditions, but also to ensure that the purchase has not been cancelled in the days that follow.

Deactivating cashback

Customers are free to unsubscribe from the cashback service any time from the "Cashback" screen in-app, or by contacting customer service : transaction data will then no longer be shared with the partner. In this case, Any cashback awaiting validation will be cancelled.
